Framed by formal landscaping and one hundred acres of wooded parklands, the historic Wadsworth Mansion is the quintessential country estate. Constructed at the turn of the twentieth century, its style is reflective of the Gilded Age when the art of entertaining was perfected. In keeping with that tradition, the Wadsworth Mansion hosts only one event each day, and provides the opportunity for a bride to create a truly unique experience.
The beauty of the grounds and the privacy of the estate are conducive for outdoor ceremonies, cocktails, and dancing. With special arrangements, the grounds can be tented for large events. Choose between the Vista, framed by century-old cedars, or the secluded Tennis Pavilion, enclosed by a rose trellis, and your ceremony will only be steps away from your reception. The Italianate façade of the building is a majestic background for our patio. The view is a seven-hundred-foot manicured lawn. Your guests may gather here for cocktails and dancing. Many newlyweds have danced their first dance under the stars.
Each season has its enchantments. Flowering dogwoods, daffodils, and rhododendrons herald the coming of spring. The summer is blessed with long days and fair nights. In August, luscious hydrangea bushes bloom and weigh heavy with blossoms into the fall. The towering allée of maples along the entrance drive turn vivid shades of red, orange, and yellow in the fall. Our winters are bright when the snow lays on the Vista and the cedars provide shelter for grazing deer. The bar with its brown tones is cozy and the fireplaces blaze warming the rooms. It is the ability to create your own wedding that makes the Wadsworth Mansion special.
The rental includes the whole first floor, bridal suite, tables, chairs, dance floor, and ceremony chairs. Maximum wedding capacity is 200.
