Founded as a dining and sports club in 1889, the Racquet Club is a much-beloved National Historic Landmark located in the heart of Center City. Designed by the renowned architect, Horace Trumbauer, who is also noted for his work on the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Free Library of Philadelphia, the Racquet Club has athletic facilities that were considered the finest in the city, at the turn of the last century. The Club built the first above-ground swimming pool in the nation, and has one of only nine royal tennis courts in America.
Membership to the Racquet Club is still by invitation only. However, through an exclusive catering contract with Jeffrey Miller Catering, this magnificent clubhouse is now open to both members and non-members alike, and welcomes their special events with spaces that are truly palatial.
