McLean Gardens Ballroom is an historic special events facility in northwest Washington, DC, with a location central to Georgetown, the Washington Cathedral, and Embassy Row. The elegantly appointed ballroom provides the perfect backdrop for any special occasion. The ballroom boasts a 40-foot ceiling supported by four Greek columns and accented by five grand chandeliers. Period antiques and reproductions, including Chippendale-style chairs and camelback loveseats, surround the central oak dance floor. The two working fireplaces, each enhanced by a 10-foot gilded mirror, are prominent features in the ballroom. Silk draperies grace 20-foot windows that offer additional illumination for daytime events. Soft yellow walls and exquisite architectural details throughout the room provide the finishing touches to this distinguished setting. Entrance to the ballroom is through a dramatic foyer highlighted by a black and white marble floor. One display in the foyer is historic photographs of the original McLean family mansion. Capacity for the ballroom is 350 guests. For a plated reception, 180 guests can be accommodated comfortably. A seated buffet event can hold up to 170 guests, and a standup cocktail event with multiple food stations can accommodate 160 to 350 guests with limited seating. Tregaron is currently a building on the Upper School campus of Washington International School. Tregaron is on the National Register of Historic Places and has long been considered one of Washington’s great homes. The three-story, red-brick mansion features a welcoming interior foyer with pillars, high ceilings with a brass chandelier, and an ivory marble floor leading to a grand carpeted staircase with lattice railing. Directly ahead is the Terrace Room, which opens to an expansive outdoor terrace overlooking Klingle Valley, and to the right is Davies Hall. Both rooms feature pecan-wood paneling, dark green marble fireplaces, and parquet floors. Perhaps the most stunning feature of Tregaron is its expansive grounds and gardens. The Terrace enjoys panoramic views of Tregaron’s sloping back lawn and is a wonderful place for a meal on a breezy evening. An authentic Dacha and an architectural gem of a greenhouse frame the Dacha garden and fountain. Another fountain gurgles on the patio of the Hidden Grove. A grand staircase and well-landscaped circular drive provide an entrance that is just as stunning as the rest of the home. Tregaron has a fully seated capacity of 144 people or 200 people for a cocktail-style reception. There is parking for 90 cars on site.
