We invite you to celebrate your special event at the Lyman Estate, which since 1793 has provided a gracious setting for life’s important occasions. A private 37-acre landscape of lawns, gardens, and historic greenhouses surrounds the mansion. You and your guests will feel entirely at home in the spacious house, which is handsomely furnished with antiques and works of art, and features elegant architectural detail.
Our dedicated staff is eager to help you fulfill your vision of a perfect wedding. An experienced Lyman Estate function supervisor will assist you from the earliest stages of planning through your wedding day and will be present throughout your event. For over 50 years, weddings have been our specialty, and we delight in helping create a wonderful beginning to a couple’s new life together. Our staff gives full consideration to all details, however large or small, to make your entire experience both enjoyable and memorable. You will have exclusive use of the mansion and grounds at this exquisite property. You may also hold your ceremony at the estate, either outdoors or in the elegant ballroom. The mansion’s first floor contains five rooms—two parlors, dining room, library, and ballroom—all opening off of a large central hallway. Generous proportions throughout facilitate movement from room to room so your party will never feel crowded. A grand staircase lit by a Palladian window leads to the second floor, where bride’s and groom’s rooms may be used for changing. By day, large windows flood every room with natural light; in the evening, chandeliers and mirrors sparkle, while paintings, antique china, and fine furnishings glow in warm lamplight.
The ballroom, which retains its original 1793 design, is a superb example of Federal-period architecture, with columns, high ceilings, and elegant architectural detail. The room’s many tall windows overlook the veranda and gardens.
The estate’s extensive grounds, laid out around 1800, offer a variety of locations for you and your guests to enjoy. A columned veranda overlooking the garden provides a gracious setting for cocktails and dining. A tent may be placed on the lawn, and you are welcome to stroll around the gardens and grounds. Two pavilions that punctuate the 475-foot brick peach wall afford charming settings for photographs of the bridal party. By pre-arrangement, the estate’s historic greenhouses, which are among the oldest in the nation, may be open for your guests to enjoy and for photo opportunities.
