The Newport Mansions have represented the best of gracious living and entertaining for more than two centuries. By hosting your cocktail reception, corporate meeting, executive retreat, or gala in one of our spectacular settings, you play an important role in the preservation of these unique and historic properties. Escape the ordinary and give your colleagues or clients a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Whether you’re hosting an intimate cocktail party or seated dinner for hundreds, the Newport Mansions can provide the perfect setting for your event.

ROSECLIFF Boasting Newport’s largest private ballroom and a heartshaped staircase, Rosecliff, built in 1902, was the setting for many of the most fabulous social events of the Gilded Age. It continues in that tradition today, and has also been featured in many Hollywood films, including The Great Gatsby, True Lies, Evening, and 27 Dresses.

CHINESE TEA HOUSE For more intimate functions, the Chinese Tea House at Marble House is the perfect venue. This lavishly decorated pavilion can accommodate small meetings, dinners, or cocktail parties in a picturesque setting. The Tea House, built in 1914, was painstakingly restored by The Preservation Society of Newport County, creating a remarkable and unexpected counterpoint to the European-inspired elegance of the other Newport Mansions.

MARBLE HOUSE Marble House, a National Historic Landmark, was built for Mr. and Mrs. William K. Vanderbilt. The cost of the house was reported to be $11 million, of which $7 million was spent on 500,000 cubic feet of marble. It was the most lavish house in America when it opened in 1892. Marble House was the scene of both elaborate balls and political rallies to raise funds for the women’s suffrage movement. The view from the canopied terrace overlooks a colorful Chinese Tea House and the Atlantic Ocean beyond.

THE ELMS The Elms, a National Historic Landmark built in 1901, was one of the first fully electrified houses in Newport. A marvel of French and Oriental design influences, the house provides a backdrop for monumental artworks, including wall-sized eighteenth-century Venetian paintings and Chinese lacquer panels. The Elms’s elegant ballroom opens onto a terrace that overlooks a 10-acre expanse of lawn, a restored French classical revival garden, and polished white marble pavilions surrounded by flowing fountains. Overlooking the Sunken Garden, The Elms Carriage House is alsoavailable for private events.
