Originally opened in November 1921 as part of the Vaudeville circuit, the Palace Theatre and the Palais Royale Ballroom (now both part of the Morris Complex) represent to the surrounding area not only the community’s cultural heritage but also a place to be entertained and to hold special events. From the Leighton Theatre Stage that has hosted hundreds of Broadway shows, music and comedy acts, to the Palais Royale Ballroom where people would dance the night away, hosting such notables as Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway, and the Glenn Miller Orchestra, you will find that we are the crown jewel of downtown South Bend. Together the Morris Performing Arts Center along with the Palais Royale Ballroom are one of a kind, the perfect mix of old and new – a combination of opulent décor and rich history, located perfectly in Downtown South Bend. We look forward to working with you on your event.
