The property, known as Old Glory Ranch, was purchased in 1984 by Charles and Suzanne McCord of Houston. Suzanne and her lifelong friend, Laura Weems of Laura Weems Interiors, found themselves in a creative partnership that is responsible for much of Old Glory Ranch’s elegance and charm. Suzanne and Laura wanted to build a structure that modeled an aging country chapel with the amenities of a modern day facility. They wanted to create a structure which functioned in a public application but did not feel commercial. They set to work on plans that would ultimately exceed their expectations. The two traveled around the states searching for elements that would complement the Victorian style hall constructed by Ron Balderach, who also specializes in architectural design. In 2002, the McCord’s doubled the size of the ranch, now totaling over 800 acres. It is the pairing of this pastoral Texas Hill Country setting with an amazing sense of style that makes Old Glory Ranch the ultimate wedding and event destination.
